Afterpay

What Is Afterpay?

Afterpay stores NZ offer a digital service that makes it possible to buy something now and pay it off in fortnightly instalments. If you select to pay with Afterpay NZ, your purchases will be shipped to you just like normal, but you’ll have eight weeks to pay off the total purchase price.

How To Use Afterpay:

1. Browse Afterpay stores and pick what you love. You can use Afterpay for sunglassesprescription glasses, and contact lenses.

2. Choose Afterpay as your payment method to buy glasses online.

3. Instantly create your account with Afterpay NZ sign up and complete your purchase.

How to Set Up Afterpay:

To use NZ Afterpay, all you need is to be at least 18 years of age, living in New Zealand and carry a New Zealand Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card. You must also have a working mobile phone to confirm your account.

How Does Afterpay Work?

Pay for your purchase over 4 equal instalments, due every two weeks. You’ll pay your first payment at the time of purchase and the remainders over time.

If you’ve used Afterpay before, that’s it. You don’t have to make an immediate payment, and the payments will be automatically deducted in four equal amounts, every two weeks. If this is the first time you’re using it, you’ll be required to make one of the four payments immediately and then one every two weeks after.

Can I Get A Refund On An Afterpay Purchase?

Yes, full and partial refunds are available from Afterpay NZ retailers. Keep in mind you may be charged for the item by Afterpay if the refund has not been processed by the retailer yet. However, you will be refunded for any payments. To find out about your refund, contact us as a need to notify Afterpay we’ve received your item.

What Happens If You Don’t Pay Afterpay?

Afterpay is always zero interest, and there are never additional fees when you pay on time. The only fees are for late payments. Your payment schedule will be emailed to you along with notifications so there are no surprises. You can also use the Afterpay app to keep track of your upcoming payments.

If a deduction is unsuccessful, you will be notified and you will have a chance to log in and choose a different payment method. If you don’t, you’ll be charged a $10 late fee. If you fail to make a payment within seven days you’ll be charged a further $7. For each Afterpay order, you can be charged a maximum of one $10 late fee per order. For any order that’s $40 or above, you can be charged late fees that total 25% of the original order or a maximum of $68, whichever is higher.

If you fail to make repayments Afterpay holds the right to report it to a credit reporting bureau, such as Experian.

Does Afterpay Do A Credit Check?

No. You’ll be automatically approved as long as you’re 18 and have a working credit or debit card.

The spending limit varies customer by customer. The more times you use Afterpay and pay for your purchase successfully, the more you’ll be able to spend. Each time you make a purchase with Afterpay, it makes a fresh decision about your spending limit, so there’s always room for growth.
