YSL Sunglasses

Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) sunglasses are in a league of their own. Different to Dolce & Gabbana, different to Gucci, different to Marc Jacobs and Native sunglasses, YSL sunglasses have that certain magic aura to them that other sunglasses just haven't discovered yet. Yves Saint Laurent has an aura of luxury.

These Yves Saint Laurent sunglasses are an absolute treat. A chunky square style frame with an abundance of attitude, these sunglasses could be a superhero mask. A marvel to look at and a pleasure to wear, they are testament to the company's 50 year proven record of producing quality.

Take for example the Yves Saint Laurent 2338. The form is just magnificent. It's an pilot style model, but it has these cute little colour coordinated fabric attachments on the hinges. It's like a leather flying jacket meets wings of its own. Take note: your dreams can fly. All you have to do is spread your wings.

The Classic 6 pulses with energy. These sunglasses are a total relic. They say you're a woman fully conscious of the world. On one level, you're wide eyed. On the other level, your eyes are wide open. This design contemplates both womanhood and the human condition, while also meditating on the fine art of getting things done efficiently. YSL isn't in the market to put in 50% effort.

With $1.21 billion in revenue as far back as the mid nineties, this is a brand accustomed to global operations, and the expectation of quality designs time and time again. That is precisely why YSL sunglasses provide quality designs time and time again. They're good at it.

Hedi Slimane, YSL's creative director, has a unique challenge but pulls it off well. Previously creative director at Dior Homme, Slimane is an archetypal artist who found photography at 11 and fashion design at 16. An active exhibitor and curator, as well as full-time design guru, Slimane puts his name to every piece of YSL eyewear. We'd say he's qualified.

In 1983, he became the first living designer to be given a solo exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Given high honours by the French President in 2007, just before his untimely passing, Saint Laurent had obviously carved out a concrete legacy for himself. People aren't lying when they say he was one of the biggest names in fashion. Yves Saint Laurent was a giant in his field, and that lives on through YSL eyewear.
