Alexander McQueen Sunglasses

Alexander McQueen is the kind of genius who could have changed the world if he just stuck around. Given another fifteen years, the world was this man's oyster. This beautiful collection of eyewear is something of a legacy – a reminder that life is precious and needs grabbing.

Born to a teacher and a taxi driver, his family was not the richest. This did not stop little Alexander making dresses for his sisters, and telling the world he wanted to be a fashion designer. Well, he certainly got what he wanted.

McQueen left school at age 16, having only passed one subject that year. The subject was art. With the intention of getting a Savile Row apprenticeship, he cast himself out into the big wide world. Aren't we all glad he did?

From 1996 to 2001, Alexander McQueen was head designer at Givenchy. While working there, he applied skills he had learned in various costume departments to designing costumes for David Bowie's tours.

Four times he was British designer of the year. After that, the American Fashion Designers' Council gave him the International Designer of the Year award. These Alexander McQueen sunglasses really show off why that is. With glossy red ovals – more like a masquerade mask, and blue grey butterflies – more like a brilliant bow-tie, there's no question that the fashion awards which flowed in were merited.

Regard the patterned and crafted Alexander McQueen 4194. In crimson red with brown grey lenses, it's like a rush of blood to the head. This ravishing Alexander McQueen eyewear looks like nail polish meets varnish. Lacquer meets dark wood stain. There's only one name capable of this kind of design. Alexander McQueen.

Another range concerned with gigantic leaps forward in design is Gianfranco Ferre sunglasses. With impressive use of avant-garde colour schemes and shapes – if Gianfranco Ferre isn't a household name, it should be.
